I wonder if we see any changes this next semester with kids transferring. Who is likely to leave for the opportunity to play elsewhere (regardless of classification)?

WR's - loaded at the group and recruiting three more? Dodge rotates only 5 and sometimes six WR's a game. That is a lot of WR's sitting. I could see at least two leaving after the spring to go AA or D-2. I can't see how all those WR's are going to be happy. Marcus King, Roberson, Breece, Dibrell, Evan Walker, BJ Lewis and then 3 more freshman. Wow. Then you have SLC transfer Fentriss who is going to see a lot of PT next season.

QB's - Tune, Vizza, Meager, Phillips, and SMU transfer Eric Johnson. (Dodge comes in January) I could see

one or two leaving. Riley goes no where (except Maybe Missouri, but does Vizza stay? Tune is just a rs freshamn, does he stay? Meager and Phillips are too far along to change but if one does, it would be Meager. I could see Vizza possibly going to Baylor depending on who gets the job and whether or not he wants the Dodge deal constantly hanging over is head. Johnson might see the writing on the wall as well, who knows, Johnson came to UNT before Dodge verbally committed.

LB's - Sitting good. Maybe some more speed with one or so hs recruit or JC.

OL - depth at the position, major competition next season. Going to sign at least 4, several RS this season?

DL - we have some coming back and will recruit more.

CB and Safties - UNT recruits heavy. I believe we go JC all the way with 2 or 3 HS.

Kicker - possible recruit, most likely walk on opportunities.

Punter - solid but would nice to have someone who can punt if Truman gets injured.

Then the question of Mendoza. Dodge is loyal and I would assume he gets another year.

Thoughts?

RB - Cam, Micah, and will recruit at least 2, 1 hs. kid and one JC possible?

Vizza isn't going anywhere. Riley is staying at UNT. Why would he decommit from UT, where most kids in the state dream to go, only to move all the way to Missouri? The reason he decided on UNT is becuase the Dodge family would have been torn between UNT and UT. Playing at Mizzou would only make that scenario worse. Meager and Phillips' eligibility is about up, so those guys in essence don't matter. I'd assume Johnson will stay given he's already transfered once. There should be a healthy competition at the wide out position this spring. The more, the merrier there. A ton of spots will be open on the defensive side of the ball. I doubt harldy anyone leaves on defense. I'm not sure where these thoughts came from but they are evil. We need all the bodies we can get this spring to have as much competition as possible.

I know Riley has the family issue but the only reason he didn't go to UT was because he wasn't going to be given a shot at all to play QB. I figured Missouri might get back in the picture, with Riley and Chase Daniel being such good friends, and if Chase could convince Missouri to give Riley an opportunity to play QB.

I believe any change would be at WR. Lot of bodies including Brock, Washington, Rod, and others all wanting to hit the field.

QB deal will work itself out. Both Riley and Vizza can play at any mid level school they want. Vizza would have to sit out a season, so if he switches, it would be before he loses a year of eligibility.

Poor coach Mendoza is in a tough situation. Not sure, this board will ever let it go.

UNT needs competition desperately in the secondary.

Expect great play from Taveras and Penson next season at LB.

Vizza ain't going anywhere. The starting job is his to lose

Riley isn't going anywhere. It was UT or family for him, imo.

I believe in this system the top 8 WRs get PT. don't quote me on that though

Lots of rumors about Mendoza floating around. Lets just let it rest until next season (I say that, knowing full well you guys aren't going to let it lol)

You know, if Mendoza hadn't charged the fan after the LaMo win, he might have been in a position to be forgiven at some point. By doing what he did, he'll never live it down and will always be the odd-man out on this staff.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the wide outs this year have been really healthy. All that going across the middle and everyone has been able to stay healthy.

That is a good point. Pretty healthy season at WR but it still seems like their are still not enough spots for all those Wr's.

B-Jax does take a needle before every game for his turf toe, however. "taking it for the team"

You do know his dad is the coach of the mean green right?

Not to be offensive (like usual) but do we really know what might happen between now and signing day?

For all we know, both Dodge's could be leaving, you just never know in this business, this is a business isn't?

Tell me why in the world would Vizza leave! He is a true freshman starting at QB at a d1 school (just for those of you that weren't aware haha). Vizza is a competitor, just because Rodge shows up is not enough to scare him away. Not to mention Dodge is a smart guy and as a result he will redshirt Riley giving Vizza no reason to fear losing his starting position. The only players we might lose are the frosh wide receivers that did not redshirt this year that got very little pt. I say this because they know there are three to four starting receivers returning in addition to the redshirted freshman such as roberson and marcus king that might be high impact players, as well as some of the the commits, all of which they will have to compete for pt with.

Not likely.

I doubt Riley goes anywhere and would go as far as saying I doubt he takes a redshirt. Riley will be the #2 Qb next year. Vizza will be the #1 man next year and will be under the microscope in '08. The gloves come off & Riley get's a shot in '09. Great times upcoming for the QB position!!!

As for Meager & Phillips, I could see either transfer to 1AA for an immediate shot at playing. Can you blame them?

I'm hoping this offense can recruit a RB with the explosiveness & pass catching ability similar to Tech backs Ricky Wiliams & Tauren Henderson. NT really lacked a threat out of the backfield this year.

Lot's of Dickey players playing out of position(on defense) or without a position may transfer.

If I had been Phillips, I would have transferred last spring to a 1-AA or D-II school. Since he didn't, I'm guessing that he's going to stay with the team and finish his degree. If anyone has thoughts of moving on, I'm guessing it's Nathan Tune.

As to the remainder of the team. I seriously doubt that any WR will transfer, but some of the TE's might. Although, it looks as if Coach Dodge amended his stand on not having TE's in the offense toward the end of the season when Victor Gill (#85) got some playing time.

Speaking of that, I even noticed at one point last Saturday that we went to a two tight-end look.

Was that incident ever proven? Was Mendoza ever approached by anyone on the AD's staff and reprimanded?

Or did he just give a F-you look and someone got their feelings hurt?

Not trying to be a smart ass, but did "Mendoza Gate" really happen?

Dude...Why do you have to have FFR in your crosshairs in EVERY thread? Seriously, it gets old after a while. Take your fight to a PM so the rest of us don't have to read it in every thread.

You can certainly count on some turnover of players leaving, transferring, etc...at the end of this year.

We graduate 19 correct? We will sign 24 freshmen I believe. Like it or not, you have to count on 5 kids leaving, transferring, being kicked out for disciplinary reasons, etc. to be NCAA compliant in terms of roster numbers.

One thing about Coach Dodge and the philosophies him and his staff have implemented is that EVERYONE in the program gets an equal chance to play. Vizza is certainly not leaving...anyone who thinks that is crazy. None of the WR's are leaving. I could see some of the 3rd string guys who are Jr's or Sr's who have talented youngsters behind them leaving...it only makes sense. We will just have to wait and see though!
