UNT to play at Iowa in 2015 and 2017. Would have been nice to get a home and home...

Especially since they are playing North Dakota State on the road... so they will play a FCS school on the road, but not NT? I guess this is about money.

WTF??? Frickin' North Dakota State has more $$ then we do? Wow...we have fallen off the map when we cannot get home-and-homes...

I wonder if due to geographic proximity, South Dakota State can offer up a ton of dough. Maybe they can fill half the stadium with Hawkeye fans and can guarantee more money than we ever could?

Trust me, we can offer more cash the Directional Dakota State, our in a much better recruiting area for exposure and there are a ton of Iowa alumni in the area that would show up for the game.

I didn't see anything in the original story saying they're playing at NDSU. Also, NDSU and SDSU aren't directional Dakota schools.

If we do a 2 for 1, we don't get a guarantee.

We have to play guarantee games against someone. People were just saying that they want it to be lower tier teams than perennial top 10 programs like Texas, LSU, and Alabama.

Now, for at least 2 of the next 5 years, our guarantee game is going to be a middling Big 10 team instead.

Somehow, this is a bad thing?

As for selling out a game in exchange for giving up a guarantee... I remember that being said years ago, too... But I don't think it still applies. Even if we sold out Apogee at $25 per person (and no students showed up, so that we could get revenue for those tickets), gross revenue would be about $760,000. Meanwhile, the price of guarantee games has risen up to the $1,000,000 area.

Ahem, I wish people who bitch so much about scheduling would just do a few computations to try understand the finances involved. One, if you completely sell out the stadium, assuming at least 8,000 students that would leave I guess about 23,000 tickets at a more realistic $20 would give you tickets receipts of only $460,000. The kicker is that you are not paid for the away game, therefore assuming parking, game expenses net out, NT has income of $230,000 a game. Compare that with a $1M guarantee with an estimate of a max $200k travel expenses. $800,000 for the guarantee game versus $230,000 average for the home and away series.
