I kinda doubt it's even a consideration anymore. Wouldn't hold your breath.

Where can we buy club baseball shirts or apparel to support the team?

Why would one think baseball is no longer being considered? Is this just an opinion, or did the department state something?

Nothing more than gut feeling. Do not take my response as anything more. I think officially, it will always be a "consideration," as it's kinda sorta a priority sport for CUSA (UTEP notwithstanding). But the wheels that were turning, the gears that were grinding, seem to have since gone silent.

Wheels are still turning...also still turning on upgrades to the softball and soccer complexes. Just takes money...but, a nice new donation just came in recently split between athletics and business. Yep, that AD who "never raises money" has been at it again.

Raises less money and loses more games than the vast majority of our conference mates.

Good to hear about a new donation. Wish they would promote that so we could try to send that person out business.

They might, but it is pretty new. But, at times folks do not want to be identified, they just want to help. Do not know in this case. I just know the person is well known and has been involved in the Denton Community for a very long time.

Based on one ridicules response to this very good news you can count on folks being as negative as they can when and if the donor is identified. Only at North Texas can the great news of a large new donation secured by the AD be cause for disdain and negativity. Perhaps it is the reason that many large donations are not publicly announced...who knows. But, I do know that only at North Texas do folks find something negative in a very very positive situation.

They bitch about stuff they have no clue about then they poo poo the very thing happening that they bitch about not happening. Yep, only at North Texas.

People already bitch that if we get a baseball team it will take away from football and basketball resources. Utter nonsense, but we seem to have a large portion of the fanbase who thrives on misery and self flagellation.

Kinda surprised I didn't hear about this one, but it certainly is good news.

I still wouldn't hold my breath for a team by 2018. Even if they fully funded the program today with capital investments and some perpetuity that funded (the meager 11.7) scholarships and (comparatively very low paid) coaches, you're talking two to three years before first pitch.

Man, if we had pulled it off in the originally intended timeline, UNT would be damn near postseason ready today. The names I heard that were lined up are tearing up the game right now.

Just to be clear...I have no idea if the donation is for baseball or something else in athletes. But, wherever it is sent it will take pressure off other resources thus making baseball just that much closer.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't understand why KRAM is letting one small negative sample inspire such a negative "only at North Texas" generalization.

I think most people around here are pretty stoked to hear about someone's generosity.

Baseball will happen. It has too! It should have so long ago. The university would be crazy to not take advantage of this chance to play CUSA baseball. Give it 3 to 4 more years. You will see.

P.S. I have no inside information... Just a gut feeling.

Harry in your post of May 7 you indicated that a big donation was made for baseball.  My question, has anyone put out the latest figure of what it will take dollar wise to implement the baseball program and how much has be donated?  By donated I mean the money is in the bank for UNT, not a pledge.

@UNT71 I cannot give u exact figures however I can state that at the Dallas Caravan baseball was the big "buzz" in terms of discussions before after and during the event.

My sources indicate the accounting fiasco essentially put the baseball financial supporters in the bunker.  Now that it appears to be decided on in favor of UNT the baseball campaign has been rejuvenated.

If I were to hazard a guess I suspect all of the original big money donors are back in ???? but we have to restart the efforts to attract additional funding sources.  I know Regent Brint Ryan has shown a willingness to give and we have just hired a new VP of Advancement so I'm optimistic.

@UNTEngr.#43 I do not.  Sorry!  Wish there was though as I wouldn't mind having one to wear.

If memory serves, @BillySee58 plays or played on the club team. If I did that tag right he should see this and maybe he will know if there is a way to buy shirts or hats as a fundraiser...

Shoot me a PM if you want a hat or shirt during baseball season (fall or spring).

Thanks Harry and Army for Dad for your help. I sent BillySee58 a message hoping maybe I can get some help on buying a hat or shirt to support the baseball club at UNT.
