I don't care how much trouble I get in with the wife. I WILL have one of those helmets.

I think any hope of a low-level guy like me of getting my hands on one of those things is slim to none. I just want one of those tiny Apogee Stadiums they handed out last year. Haven't been able to find one.

I'm just so happy this is actually happening. Now hopefully someone realizes making Flying Worm apparel for this game would also help fatten their pocketbook.

Regardless, there's an aweful lot of negativity here on this thread. I do hope it doesn't upset too many folks. Ya'll complainers need to nut up and enjoy whatever uniform you get, damn it!

Why would we want to honor the Dodge era? To me, that would be like honoring the Bob Tyler era.

Last years helmets (and unis) were just a slight shade darker than the Fry era uni's. I would rather put a white "stylized Eagle" on last years helmet.

You're a true inspiration and I will follow suit. If all else fails, I will say that Emmitt did it so I thought it was okay to spend X amount on a helmet.

It's not about being historically accurate in color schemes from every era in one uniform. Can you imagine how horrible that would look? We would have 4 or 5 shades of green... so ugly.

It's about honoring our past. The flying worm is probably our most iconic helmet decal. It's going to be on there. I'm excited about that. I cant wait to see what the rest of the uniform looks like!

You all know how much I adore football fashion threads, but I will say that were I to never see another white helmet or flashy jersey piping again so long as I shall ever live, it would be just fine and dandy with me.

not a big worm fan but it is pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Kind of makes it weird now though to go back to the north texas wording on the helmets after this.

The white helmets are also from the Mean Joe era.

You would think the merchandising part of our University would put those in the stores to sell, but this is North Texas.

Can we just stick this? This is MILES better than the North Texas on the helmet. In fact, read articles all over the place...and they still quote us as North Texas State, which tells you the North Texas on the helmet has done NOTHING.

I would actually prefer to stick with this helmet as well. It's different and brings more brand awareness/uniqueness than our current logo. The only problem I see is that it isn't officially a part of our current branding portfolio.

Still....the "North Texas" on our present helmet has the end of the chin strap covering 1 or 2 letters. Some might call that a bit tacky? Or do we become North Tex instead to accomodate that particular wardrobe malfunction?

And in conjunction with our new CUSA membership will there be other numerous items of Mean Green sports gear to change, too?

I do like the flying worm for the first game. Wonder what our players think about it? If they could see some highlight video from the era it was adorned they might grow to love it.

I'd like to see the SOW on the helmets for games 2-12, and it seems like a good opportunity to 'pass the torch'. I have no doubt that we will see the same stupid North Texas lettering on the helmet, however.

What's funny is, you, me SUMG and countless others have tried to convince the powers that be of the greatness that was/is the 'Flyn Worm', designed by Rick Spears...aka GreenGrenadeII, who got a chance to meet our new ticket staff and AJ two weeks ago, ...and over the years we have caught crap from newbies claiming how ugly it was blah blah blah.

Now that it has a chance, even for a short time to replace one of our less original logos that a majority of fans do not seem to like, .... and all of a sudden people are falling all over themselves about it.

Yes, that's the logo but as several have said, it was never on a white helmet, always greem as far as I know.

Unless the earlier posting of the white helmet is a trick photo to throw everyone off, we can now confirm that that the "throwback" uniform will be a mashup rather than just one uniform from our past.

No Offense....but yes they have already said it would combine the Fry and Greene Era's thats why the white flying worm helmet...you get the white helmet of the Greene era and the Flying Worm of the Fry era
