34 and 16, I would say so!!

Those are monster numbers. You can easily go a whole season without somebody scoring 34 or getting 16 boards. To get both in one game is very impressive. I think it's safe to say Tony is getting his legs and feeling the game better.

Great win. Road wins are hard to get.

Also, he played 40 minutes and only picked up 3 fouls. Someone is getting a feel for college basketball.

Not exactly great beating a short handed team, but an away win is always great no matter the circumstances. Any one now questioning Mitchells' ability, 34 point and 16 rebounds including 3 for 3 from the three, 11 of 14 overall, 9-13 free throws.

Awful shooting game again by the guards; Jones 5-16, J. Williams 1-7,and Walton 1-5 including a very ill advised 3 right before the end of regulation. Alzee was good as usual, wonder why JJ did have him defend Goldstein until near the end of regulation.

USA get kudos for staying in it all the way with Rubit out for all but 11 minutes. If it had not been for MItchell, they would have slaughtered NT on the boards. Not a pretty win but hopefully a start to playing much better.

Isn't UNT short handed also with Hogans and Holman out ?

With impeccable timing this morning and during one of maybe three minutes I'll ever listen to The Ticket this entire year, at 5:56 am I turn over and hear The Jubster talking Tony Mitchell and our three freshmen team. Talked about how highly rated they were out of HS Said this may not be the year but that great things were ahead for this group.

Of Note:

We got out-rebounded in this one (rare) 43-41 and somehow manage to outscore USA 40-24 in the paint.

Well a couple of points: yes NT is short handed as they are almost ever year as are most teams. Losing the best player in the league (I know MItchell is better, but not many do yet) 11 minutes into the game is a lot more upsetting to the team than having two players out that have been out. Not to mention Hogans and Holmen stats added together don't equal Rubit.
