Wow! So far looking a lot better than I expected! :)

(Considering this board's lack of enthusiasm for the bridge early on, I wasn't expecting much.)

A bridge is like a kitten; you have to see it to love it.

Is there a scaled back rendition of the bridge? I would like to see where it is in relation to the highway.

I have only seen the sketch that was shown in the NT Daily.

Conceptual designs for the bridge were unveiled at UNT’s Board of Regents meeting on Aug. 18. Plans depict a walkway with a V-shaped roof, intended to mirror the design of the new football stadium.

Can we get some plus ones to Flyer for getting these great pics of the new bridge please? I'm still blown away at how cool this is looking. Who knows maybe this bridge will replace the Sack and Save sign as the most memorable landmark on 35E in Denton!

I know it's just a bridge, but this looks first class. It's so weird to see how far North Texas has come along since I graduated...and that was just in 2009. :)

An Eagle??? Mean Green??? No, no, no, no!! It has to say North Texas.

How will anybody know what school they're driving by?!?!

Sorry, just can't keep beating that dead horse.

Is that an Eagle or a Mean Green?

Why the eagle? According to Stebo the eagle isn't our mascot anymore.....

I would hope somewhere prominently on the bridge span would be the words "University of North Texas." It is my limited understanding the team mascot is the Eagle and the nickname is "The Mean Green." We are the North Texas Eagles home of the "Mean Green."

It appears to be the same eagle used on the street signs around campus.

You mean the Administration is being......gasp.......consistent?

I'm sure this is already in the plan but how would the bridge be affected if and/or when they decide on the I35 expansion?

Since a large portion of the funding of bridge came from Federal and State funding, it should be safe to assume that highway expansion plans were considered ...at least I hope so.

They were.

I think the plan is to insert an additional spacer in the middle of the bridge. This will be located right in the center of the eagle, giving the bridge the new name of "The Spread Eagle" walkway.

You could probably fit four lanes between this wall and the current interstate.
