Key Architects: Some woman of questionable judgment and virtue, some drunk and/or stupid bastard without the common sense to wear a condom

This rapidly decaying late 1900's structure illustrates the worst excesses of the period. The primary edifice is drab, with a shiny exterior that emphasizes the droopy, puffy flaws inherent in the structural design. Deep fissures in the exterior reveal a poor foundation, and the inevitable dilapidation they betray evokes a sense of despair in the viewer.

The east wing is marred by graffiti, exacerbating the hideousness of the chalky, pasty primary exterior color. This revolting palette is worsened by the flat, dingy canopy draped over the entire structure. Matted, begrimed, poorly landscaped and maintained... The overgrowth cries out for topiary care under an experienced hand.

Odd, sweeping, primarily cosmetic buttresses seem as though intended to minimize the bizarrely proportioned gap between metopion and ophyron, but fail miserably at the task. Taken entire, the lineament is off-putting and has little, if any, redeeming value.

VERDICT: A sad, almost comical abomination. Not uniquely revolting enough to stand out as exceptional... Mired primarily in a general, bland hideousness endemic to the region and period of assembly.

Oklahoma 51, Tulsa 20
Tulsa took a beat-down from 14th-ranked Oklahoma, and fell to 1-2. Tulsa will have the week off before hosting a rather dreadful looking Iowa State team on Thursday the 26th.

Arkansas 24, Southern Miss 3
Southern Miss fell to 0-3, despite Arkansas' starting QB Brandon Allen going down in the 1st quarter. Things won't get easier at Boise State on the 28th.

North Texas 34, Ball State 27
North Texas improved to 2-1 with a tough come-from-behind win over Ball State, thanks to a fairly heroic effort from QB Derek Thompson. Unfortunately, a trip to Georgia is next up, and everyone from College Football Gameday to the Betfair's news site, a sports exchange online where you can put real money on the game outcomes, will have the Mean Green as major underdogs.

Bethune-Cookman 34, Florida International 13
This miserable home loss dropped FIU to 0-3, and has them looking like league bottom-dwellers.

Florida Atlantic 28, South Florida 10
It's always good to pick up that first win, but Florida Atlantic still has improving to do, and a win over South Florida is looking less and less impressive these days.

Middle Tennessee 17, Memphis 15
Despite its 0-2 record, Memphis is a capable football team, so this was a solid win for Mid Tenn. At 2-1, the Blue Raiders will head to Florida Atlantic next with a good chance to snag a win on the road.

Rice 23, Kansas 14
Rice picked up a nice home win to improve to 1-1 after a respectable loss to Texas A&M to open the season. With a number of winnable games on the horizon, Rice could be positioned for a strong league season.

UTEP 42, NM State 21
This dominant road win helped UTEP improve to 1-1 after a tough opening loss to New Mexico.

Ohio 34, Marshall 31
Tough loss for Marshall, who nearly rallied to improve to 3-0. A trip to Blacksburg to play Virginia Tech next week will keep the pressure on the Thundering Herd.

Arizona 38, UTSA 13
UTSA fell to 1-2 with a rather listless road loss to what looks like a solid Arizona team.

First and foremost let me just say Congratulations to Dan MaCarney his staff and the team. That was one hell of an effort. It may not have been pretty at times early on, but that was a great win.
Forget about analyzing the game for a moment I have to say I dont care what your feelings were about this program, but you have to be damn proud at this point. They are 2-1, they have played tough, and they have shown a lot of heart. As a fan it sucks to lose, but it really sucks when your team doesnt show effort, which is not a problem at UNT. You have Dan MaCarney and the senior leaders for that.

Now onto to the game..
Saturday was an example of effort combined with execution. Okay maybe not early on, but that is how it finished.

Did you notice that we finished off Ball St. the same way that Ohio finished us off last week?
The game plan was great.

The defense is for real! Dont listen to the fan that tells you he is concerned with the total yards given up. The game isnt designed to let whoever has the most yards to win. If that were the case why did Alabama beat A&M? Im content on giving up yards as long as we dont give up points. In todays game its near impossible to stop an opponent from gaining 300 yards on you. You can thank the spread for that.
The old adage is if you get outscored in the second half that means you got outcoached. Well for all 3 games now UNT has outcoached its opponents in the second half. UNT has outscored its opponents 46 6 in the second half! The adjustments have been great lets hope they continue.

Would you live with giving up a touchdown on the first possession of every game if you knew they werent going to score more than a touchdown in the second half?

Say what you want about Derek Thompson, but the kid is one hell of a competitor. I hope that he and Chancellor can do what Zach Orr and Marcus Trice have done for the defense.

The defense was hitting so hard it was hurting me just watching. You would have thought the UNT players saw the Ball St. players talking to their women before the game. Especially Laramie Lee! I want that guy on my side in fight.

Its great to have options at WR isnt it? I bet no-one is happier than Chancellor. He can finally show case his talents. Big props to Darnell Smith, he is developing into a great 3rd possession WR. Every successful team needs one.

Georgia is up next and we know they are good and all that other stuff. However, last year after their bye week they almost lost to Kentucky (29-24). That was the game before their big match-up with Florida. Similar to this year they have a big game versus LSU looming next week. They are going to do all the coach speak and say we arent looking ahead, but you know they are. We could make them sweat a little bit this weekend. Just saying

These guys deserve better attendance than that. You would have thought UNT was 0-3 and lost every game by 20. I do want to thank every student that showed up and stayed throughout the game. I know the team appreciates it and so do the alumni. Give yourself a pat on the back. Okay, now go spread the good word and get your friends in the stands.

Finally, there is a revolution starting in Denton. It started with Mean Joe asking this team to put the MEAN back in the GREEN. It has stuck and resonated with the senior leaders and they have got everyone to buy in. Now its time to get the students, alumni, and casual fans to buy in too. Apogee is our home and you dont invite guests into your house looking like a mess. Saturday it was a mess and a disgrace. We are all better than that. I understand that some people had a legitimate excuse, but watching other games on T.V. is not one. Its un-acceptable. We expect these guys to go out there and lay their bodies on the line for us fans and the university. We put un-worldly pressure on these guys to perform so we can sleep better at night. So if you believe youre entitled to seeing good football, you better be ready to give something back. We owe the team something better than Saturday. Its time to rise up and join the Mean Green Revolution. Like other fans have mentioned bring everybody you know to be a witness. I dont care who it is whether it be your family, friends or the old lady from down the street. Get bodies in seats. If you think youve seen effort from this team, fill the stadium up and see what happens. Hell, 75% full would be a great improvement. The time is now ladies and gentlemen. Im calling on all the students and alumni to do whatever it takes to fill Apogee. Dont rely on the A.D. or anybody else. With a little effort from the fans and students we can pull this off. Its time we ALL put the MEAN back in the GREEN. Join the Revolution baby! Its going to be a fun ride!

3) We TOOK five turnovers from them. Make no mistake, we weren't given anything. We took the ball five times. I'm not sure the guy that Laramie Lee hit on that fourth turnover knows he's made it back to Indiana yet.

4) We won by seven after giving Ball State seven points! We made a crucial mistake on that Jimmerson fumble that led to a gimme touchdown (by the way, I don't remember seeing him after that play). A team the caliber of Ball State was gifted points and we still won by a touchdown. And we also gave up our patented throw it over Hilbert's head and watch him not turn around touchdown...and we won.

5) This team DESERVES for us to bring ten friends to Apogee when we return home 3-2. Yes, I'm calling it now, we WILL beat Tulane. We will be coming off of a win and our boys deserve a loud and rowdy home crowd to take it to the MUTS. What we gave them today (on TV) was pathetic. Our promotions department owes them better. Our students owe them better. Our alumni owe them better. We have said for eons that "We will have better crowds when...." Well, folks, "when" just came to pass.

6) DT played lights out. I know it's been said in pretty much every thread recently but it bears repeating.

7) Brelan is a monster. He was all over the field. The return game, the passing game, everywhere. And when you watch the replay of the game check out the crushing block he delivers to spring Pegram for the last ten yards of his touchdown run.

8) Marcus Trice, if he isn't somewhere playing pro ball, needs to be offered a position in this football program. If not, our athletic department has absolutely missed the bus. He plays hard, says all the right things when interviewed and he brings so much passion and energy to this team. And has anyone noticed that practically every time a kid commits to our program he says something along the lines of "Marcus Trice was my host on my visit..." or "I hung out with Trice and the guys and it just felt like family...". He's just an excellent ambassador for this program.

9) I love the offense we're running. DT is spreading it around. The running game is keeping defenses honest and breaking a home run here and there. Chico deserves BIG TIME kudos.

10) I said it throughout the second half but we just kept working the body. Like a prize fighter we just kept delivering the body blows with our running game and that Ball State defense began to fold up. When I was a student the Dickey ball recipe was a thing of beauty. We may finally be seeing all the things that were great about that style mixed with a passing game that frustrates defenses. And here's the icing on the cake. This is not a senior laden O-line and we have been bringing in the beef the last few recruiting classes.
