So, the green team pulled away a bit in the second half to edge the white team in this the 4th year of the GMG.Com BB Classic! And what a fun day it was...we had two great honorary coaches in Vertrail Vaughn's for the green team and Hannah Christian for the white. Stepping in to do a "most interesting job" as our third referee was Brandan Walton. Also joint us as referees were Ex-UNT footballer Troy Kokjohn and ex-Cheer Squad member Matt Sherman. Thanks go also to our athletic department student managers and all the help they gave with the scoreboard, set-up, equipment, clock, etc. Our two coaches, UNT90 for the victorious green team and Andrew for the hard charging white team both did a fine job and I think a good time was had by all.

And, what a nice turnout of fans and supporters this year! Wow...really appreciate everyone who came out to help support this game and out great Cheer Squad!

Really nice to see the large group who made it to the back room at Rudy's for the after event beer and BBQ. Largest crowd I think we have had in our four years. So, thanks again to each and everyone who sponsored the event, played, volunteered, came to support the event and bid on some great silent auction items and to those who came to the after game party.

I think we may have raised a record dollar total for the Cheer Squad as well....after I do the accounting and collect for the final few silent auction items, I'll post how the event did...dollar-wise in this thread. To those who helped make this happen....I cannot thank you enough. So, finally, let me again say a big thank you to our sponsors:

Cross Timbers Equipment Company,

Kokjohn Long Snapping,

Addison Transportation,

Rudy's BBQ and

M Ben Designs!

So I know this is still the lull-ish months in our Mean Green Fandom, but if you have the availability to come to campus tomorrow (Saturday, the 22nd), there is going to be a full day of stuff going on for everyone's athletic tastes.

9:30 AM - Darrell Dickey Practice Fields - First Football Scrimmage

So, I just called Athletics to confirm (for the KRAM types ) that yes, despite the weather forecast, tomorrow's scrimmage is still scheduled to move forward. As all Spring activities are open, come on out and join in the revelry along the side lines.

11:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Ken Bahnsen Gym aka THE SNAKE PIT - UNT Student Alumni Association Inaugural Field Gym Day

https://studentaffairs.unt.edu/field-day

Remember Field Days in elementary school? Come on, you know you loved those and long to do so again. So here's your chance! Join our Alumni Team captained by fellow GMG poster Tyler Maryak and compete against current students! Oh, and if you haven't heard, the SAA itself is run by our own lovely poster Michagb. The winning team will receive the coveted Golden Squirrel Trophy commemorating their contributions.

All monies from this event go towards various causes all benefitting students - the Alumni Team cause being direct scholarships.

Registration is $10 and gets you this snazzy shirt:

Oh and you don't have to participate but can still cheer on your designated team!

5:00 PM - NT Volleyball Center - 4th Annual GoMeanGreen.com Basketball Classic

http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/forum-4/announcement-55-gomeangreencom-basketball-classic-march-22nd-5pm/

Come further contribute to student scholarships in GMG.com's tried and true Basketball Classic and Silent Auction. The recipients of these monies are UNT Cheerleading and they will be presenting a special preview at the halftime of the game.

Registration for this one is $25 and also gets you a snazzy shirt, though I don't where to link to find that one.

Come one come all!

So i remember us talking about this when we were discussing the Heart of Dallas Bowl. I couldnt help but think that if UNT has a successful season.. we can convince the alumni in the DFW metroplex to wake up and smell the coffee. I think part of this is SMU's suckiness will continue.. I project SMU to start the season 0-5..

Their schedule next season for the first 5 games...SMU is going to suck. We should take advantage of this..

08/31/14 at Baylor
9/06/14 at North Texas
09/20/14 vs. Texas A&M
09/27/14 vs. TCU
10/04/14 at East Carolina

I think rather than us.. being semi-bored with this blog because we dont have alot of content to discuss right now.. that we come up with ideas for the next season to get the word out about UNT football.

The first thing i am going to do is try and get the pedestrian bridge to apogee to have its lights changed to green to grab the attention of drivers on the highway. I already proposed this to a high ranking city official and he loved the idea... also loved it because it wouldnt cost alot of money and its doable.

Remember this... didnt this happen due to someone on this blog mentioning something to the omni.. We have a little over 5 months, imagine what we could do if we worked on things now..
