So after a bit of whining, a pick up tour was arranged for 2 Club Level seat couples and my wife and me.
We started at the delivery and recycling area and worked our way up. We got to the suites and our first stop was the President's Suite. It's a douoble wide and I mean that in the good way. We saw a regular suite and then went down to the Club Level.
My wife and I got to sit in our actual seats and they're great. Not looking for something to complain about, but the railing is a bit high for me. I'm about 5'9" and if I don't sit up straight, the top of the rail is going to be an issue for me. However, in light of all the people that keep falling over railings at sporting events, well, I'm just going to sit up straight. My Mom will be proud.
Next, to the Ball Room part of the Club Level. We were told it has capacity for 300 people and there's a bar and buffet that you already know about. The very tall windows to the west allow a view forever. The people we were with were convinced that they could see the wind turbines in St. Jo, Texas (?). Who knew.
Down to the Lower Bowl we went. I noticed there is a greeat deal of room between rows (my knees-your back). I also went to the first row and the view from there of the field is less obstructed that from the Club Level. Sitting on that first row, I almost got the feeling that I was sitting too close to the field. Great sightline.
I was told that the small scoreboard (little mama I'm told)is actually bigger than the scoreboard at Fouts. The big board (big mama-really, that's what they called them) has some kind of super resolution. The volume level has only been tested using "white noise" so far. Further tests are scheduled for later this week. All the PA speakers are mounted in Big Mama.
The floor in the concourse area is not just poured concrete. It's patterned and we were told it is supposed to look like a "bird's nest." An "avary" I suggested. The fan store is very nice an is part of the ticket office. They look separate, but one leads to the other.
I loved it. And I can't wait for September 10. Sorry for the length of this post, but there's a lot to talk
about.

Mitchell on UNT- “It’s already a winning program,” Mitchell said. “I’m just trying to take it to national heights, basically take the program to another level than it’s already at.”
Coach Jones on Mitchell's academics- “He was extremely strong in his studies in the first semester he was here, and he’s off to a great start in the summer,” Jones said. “There are no indications I should believe he wouldn’t be available.

Yet.................Texas Southern of the SWAC? Please, please, please tell me you are joking about the Tigers as a football oponent in our new stadium. TSU is a fine school (with a fine law school) off Wheeler Street in Houston but shouldn't be the opponent for a home game at the new football palace some have waited almost till that great gettin' up morning to see finally materialize in Denton.
The SBC gives us a regular menu of lower tier FBS school on our annual schedule, but more Houstons and Indiana's should be the ones we are aiming to schedule at the new MGS so when Coach Mac does get us a good team in Denton better OOC home games would help us rise in the rankings that just beating upper echelon Sun Belt teams alone will never allow such to happen. In 10 years of SBC play, it hasn't yet gotten one of our teams a Top 25 ranking (when maybe we should have had at least one IMO). The MAC has been there a few times, but have been in business longer than the SBC, too.
The new stadium will buy some time (and a helluva' bunch of passes) for some up there, but one has to wonder why multi-year staffers cannot get bigger jobs elsewhere and give North Texas a chance for new blood, ie, a new "so called" school of thought and fresh ideas and who knows, maybe even newbies with more FBS & upward contacts with the caliber of schools the Mean Green need to be playing in our new stadium. Worse case scenario is to have piss ant OOC schedules which would ultimately negate the whole upwardly bound spirit of having a new stadium in the first place. Bringing across the interstate what we already had at Fouts Field the last decade or so would be a disaster and make some wonder "why did they build that stadium to bring THOSE kind of teams into Denton.
Just sayin' how I know others of you also feel on this subject.
GMG!
PS: I read in the (I believe it was a San Antonio newspaper) where Texas State wants to expand what they will have soon to a 34,000 seat stadium as quickly as they can. Wonder who those TSU'ers have their sights aimed toward passing up with that?
