Both Wallace and Osborn were signed to other schools before going JUCO. Wallace with Oregon State and Osborn with Georgia Southern.

Wallace's first year JUCO stats

Sacramento City JC: 106 of 155 for 1,398 yards, 7 TDs/Unknown INTs - 25 rushes for 330 yards and 13 TD

Osborn's first (and only) JUCO year stats

Northwest Mississippi CC: 181 of 295 for 2,014 yards, 18 TDs/12 INT - 33 rushes for 78 yards and 3 TDs

The only unknown here is Wallace's Year One INT total. But, as far as comparison, Osborn threw the ball almost 30 times a game last season during his only JUCO year. He was responsible for 21 TDs.

Wallace threw half as many times as Osborn during his initial JUCO season. Passing and rushing, he accounted for 20 TDs.

Osborn's school went 9-1, Wallace's went 9-2. Both led winners.

Look, the plain truth is that Osborn has more experience than McNulty. He's got a year of, at least, JUCO ball under his belt. And, at a school who threw it around. I have a hard time believing Canales offense is so far out there that Osborn hasn't picked it up to the same degree McNulty is said to have.

Also, if you're into numbers, Osborn was a 3-star recruit. So, it's not like he was some stealth guy sitting out there the way Derek Thompson was when Dodge revealed his "secret" commitment.

It's hard to believe this 3-star recruit who threw almost 300 passes as a JUCO last season is so far behind this kid from Iowa that he can't even get on the playing field.

Nobody is the next anybody until someone can make a half-assed connection to Doug Flutie and Drew Brees being short.

I'm sorry, those are the rules.

Also, nobody can be the next anybody when nobody doesn't get off the bench and anybody was on the field.

Sorry, Tasty...

Osborn, listed at 6-4/215

McNulty, listed at 6-1/197

Obviously, both were too tall to start for Todd Dodge.

I'm beginning to think Osborn may be too big and have too much experience to play. This is, North Texas, after all. It is impossible for us to have a 21st Century, college-sized quarterback for long.

We must continually be in development mode, finding the next Doug Flutie/Drew Brees. Ignoring what might be a Tom Brady/Troy Aikman on the roster is standard operating procedure in this place no matter whom the head coach is.

Personally, I think we should be having a QB controversy between DT and Osborn, while McNulty sits in the background and gets occasional mopup duty in games like last Saturday's. That's what we had last Spring, with the exception that McNulty wasn't even around to watch since he had proms and such to attend. But of course that will not be allowed to happen for reasons only known to Dan. B)

Probably something like 0-20 with at least 10 INT's.

Whatcha you talkin about. Riley is 6'1" 195. The McNeese roster says so, and that's gotta be fact! http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/roster/_/id/2377/mcneese-state-cowboys

Speaking of Riley, he hasn't played since the third game of the season for McNeese due to injury. As inexperienced as our offensive line is this season, it wouldn't have been good for Riley's health here either. He might have been taken down for good during the FIU debacle.

I will forever hold that the kid had the quickness to become a Wes Welker-type slot guy/possession receiver, or the ability to develop the footwork to be a defensive back. And, I still would have liked to seen him as a punt returner. God bless the kid, but he wasn't built like a QB for this level...and he suffered physically because of it...both here and at McNeese.
