Coleman racked up three double-doubles last season for the Tigers, including a 17-point, 13-rebound outing against Southwestern (Iowa) CC. He shot 57.1 percent from the floor on the year and was named Honorable Mention All-Region XI.

"I don't think Keith is a good get for North Texas - I think he's a great get," said JUCO expert Mike Mitchell, who co-hosts a Dallas tournament for the top 60 junior college teams in the country. "I had him as a top-five JUCO prospect in the nation, and I thought he was a great signee for Nebraska. With Keith lining up with Tony Mitchell every day I think North Texas' potential is through the roof. This is a legit guy."

Following his time at Lee (Maine) Academy, Coleman was rated as the No. 23 center in the country by Scout.com and No. 37 by ESPN.com. Coleman, who checks in at 6-10 and 250-pounds, was listed as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.

“When I came to North Texas it really felt like home,” Coleman said. “From coach Benford, to Tony Mitchell and the rest of the guys, I really had a great connection with all of them, and I can’t wait to get to Denton and get started.”

Coleman joins point guard P.J. Hardwick as the first signees under Benford. The Mean Green has averaged 21 wins per season over the last six years, and has reached the Sun Belt Tournament title game in each of the last three years. North Texas will be joining Conference USA for the 2013-14 season.

So..... He can dunk with no one around him?

Not saying he can't play, but ths clip really doesn't show anything. The full video did not impress. Just sayin....

I wouldn't put too much stock in want one video clip. Remember the guy visited and played with Mitchell and co. The eye test is much more important. I think it's a good sign, this late in the game. Also, apparently, Mitchell really thinks he can play, at least that was alleged.

I'd rather have a coach that can teach defense & offensive plays when you need to have a play to close out the game!

Well, that's the problem (source) , I will believe, what I see, for myself on the court.

FWIW, at the Coaches Caravan thing yesterday Coach Benford during his speech described Coleman as "really, really good" and seemed excited about him.

The flip side of all this is any kid playing the 3 or 5 around Mitchell is probably going to look pretty damn good.

Can you imagine how much fun it is for these guys to ball with Tony? He probably makes the game so much easier/more fluid for them.

Agree, I will be happy if he can block shots, defend and rebound. I think Benford runs a spread motion type offense, he will get plenty of opportunites to score off dribble penentration from the guards and wings.

Good luck to any guards that dare to drive the lane on T-Mitch and Coleman. Defensively we will own the paint! Can't wait for November.

Sad to see Forrest go. I think he had a TON of potential. It will be interesting to see where he lands. Not sold at all on Coleman. He appeared to have Forrest's aggresiveness minus the hurt ankle and an oppposite weight problem (very slow up and down the court) in the clip that was posted.

Benford seems to disagree, and I'm sure he is just a tad bit more qualified than I in basketball talent evaluation.

Maybe..
