I've never been a fan of bumper stickers, and so for the last 10 years or so I have had a handful of different North Texas college plate designs attached to my sleds.
Starting with the first which was a picture of the Tower, it later changed to the star with the eagle. The SOW logo popped up a few years back. Most of the college plates were the same with a smallish logo on the left
Myplates.com, the license plate contractor for TXDOT has been tricking up the designs lately and adding quite a few new ones. They newer college plates they are moving to more solid colors with some like the TEXAS plates are a bit over the top. My wife decided not to renew hers because she didn't want a huge longhorn or a solid orange plate.
The other day on the official athletics site, I saw a "North Texas Plates" link. I clicked it and it didn't work. I couldn't find the North Texas plates by going to their site either. I called to ask if there was a redesign and sure enough, they had been taken down because they are in the process of being replaced with a newer design which i pictured below. So if you have been looking for a great way to support the mean green without a sticker, here's your chance. They couldn't tell me when they would be available, but it could be a few days or weeks. For those with the old plates, you will have to see if you are eligible for an upgrade. They are like cell phones and every few years you can get new ones. They run about $55 a year with a portion going to the university.
Of course if you'd rather not, there is a plate for Freebirds Burritos too.
