I just got that email and it doesn't appear to be athletic related in any way, shape, or form.

"With these new goals also comes a fresh new look for our university image."

Starts with an "E". Ends with a "ppy", and a festering stink of shame that lingers 40 years later.

It could perhaps be an announcement to recollect on the number of various outlets covering infamous days in U.S. History on their anniversary date. Talk about grandstanding at its finest.

Any student choosing to leave UNT for another institution will now be called a [clever, clever boy] instead of a Transfer Student?

Word crime. Resourceful, but treacherous, word crime.

This is what the letter says:

Since 1890, UNT has been a place of transformation for our students and the North Texas region. The dynamics of change are evident on campus as well from new buildings to a deepened commitment to excellence. Driving this change is our ambition to grow as one of the best public research universities in the nation offering the best undergraduate educational experience in Texas.

To achieve this, UNT has embraced four bold goals that are the cornerstones of our new five-year strategic plan. After months of preparation, we're ready to unveil how this important plan will guide, inspire and measure our progress for the next five years. With these new goals also comes a fresh new look for our university image.

We hope you can be a part of this special event as we chart our future of excellence while celebrating the greatness of our past.

I'm sure he'll go on and on about the business building, the stadium, the expansion to the student union, and progress toward tier 1 status along with recognition of large donations recently made.

So the interesting one is the "Fresh new look for our university image," which is a bit redundant, which doesn't bode well for the English department, now does it? My completely uninformed prediction is dropping the UNT logo in favor of North Texas, a(nother) new shade of green, thus bringing millions of new dollars in revenue in people replacing (again) their old shade/logo attire. And for this, some marketing consulting firm dude probably raked in six figures and a hearty laugh.

Excited to see what they are doing. Pleased to see them being proactive. This has been a productive era under Rawlins. He's accomplished a lot in a short period of time.

I hope it's a new marketing campaign because the one right now is horrible.

Let's pray we stick with kelly green. I might jump off a bridge if we change again.

So help me...we better not scrap the SOW logo.

Holy crap that would be a HUGE waste of money on the facade and turf at Apogee!

So it's safe to assume they are making an announcement about a plan,to make another announcement in the future about actual progress. Instead of making an announcement about something that has already been achieved??
