Oh, and of course being absolutely irrelevant unless you are cutting checks with six 0's to the university.

Memphis, huh?

Since the OOC contracts are signed all the way through 2020, are we talking about 2021+?   Wish Purdue would have worked out, but I guess Memphis is OK.

There's this wishful part of me that hopes he was hemming and hawing a bit about next year because he might be able to change Liberty, but I'm definitely not holding my breath.

I caught that trepidation as well.  I just assumed it was embarrassment instead of a potential change, but that would be awesome.

However, if we're able to 'buy-out' the deal we already have with Liberty in order to add a home/home with Memphis, then where is that money coming from, and we're likely going to have another 5-home game schedule unless we buy out one of our future paycheck games the same year we go to Memphis.   Maybe we'd just be moving Liberty to replace a paycheck game we'd be buying out (Florida game next year? 2nd Iowa game?).

Or, someone else wants us more on the future schedule and will pay a premium for it. There have been past rumors of area schools willing to buy out games we've ended up playing to open up a different year to visit them and even suggesting another school willing to come here, but it's not like anyone ever verified it, so take it with a huge grain of salt. It also depends on what relationships the AD and others value and preserve, because college football, despite its scope, only has so many office jobs and so many people, so you don't want to necessarily burn someone who could come back more powerful later over something relatively small.

As critical as I've been of RV, I have to give him props for doing appearances like this. He knows he's not got to get ambushed, but knew it wasn't going to be all cream puff questions. He did it, dit it pretty well and avoided at least some of the cheap shots. Kudos, glad to have an AD willing to try some stuff.

Observations:

1) I know we criticize him on here,  but man, he sure is defensive.

2) Listening to him talk about the schedule was pretty frustrating. He couldn't even remember it without it in front of him.

3) Memphis? Meh.

4) He seems really out of touch at times. Especially when discussing the uniforms.

5) Great news about donations and facilities upgrades.

6) I agree with him about the indoor football facility.

7) Put your money where your mouth is...ok.

Who picks the uniforms? RV or Mac? Memphis is fine with me. We should have a chance to compete in that one. His negatives far out weigh his positives.
