FORT WORTH — Eastland High School's Forrest Robinson was counted on to carry a big part of the load during his playing days for the Mavericks.

Playing with some of the best players in the state, the North Texas signee showed he can be a solid contributor at the next level.

Robinson scored 17 points Monday to help the North to a 103-94 victory in the 67th annual Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game at TCU's Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Robinson did much better than I expected, he has a tremendous upside maybe more than anyone else in that game. 17 pts and 8 rbs in maybe a third of the game is excellent. Very thin and not overly aggressive but still pulled down 8 rebounds. Has a very good shot and will be impossible to guard in the Belt, but I wish not every NT big man wants to be an outside threat. I though he might only get limited time this year, but unless some of the NT get much better, he could get a lot of playing time if not start by year end. To think that he maybe the 4 or 5 rated recruit on the team shows the potential that NT now has.

I had a discussion with a coach from Gatesville HS who said he coached Forrest in AAU. He said that if Forrest develops physically and continues to work on his game, he has NBA ability. He also said that he is mainly an outside player that will go to the boards.

Forrest's biggest challenge in the Belt will be on the defensive side of the ball, where he will be forced to guard players with an inside game and a lot more mass than Forrest is carrying. JJ loves playing man to man, which will expose Forrest until he adds a some weight.

This kid has a huge upside, we just need to be patient.
