We have been taking the trip to the “body bag” game for 13 years now and in my opinion this was by far the best the team has played in that time. During the game we heard many UGA fans making comments about the game.

In the first half we were hearing “this is embarrassing”, “we are not playing well” and “Why can’t we move the ball?” By halftime the comments changed to “North Texas is better than we expected” "we can loose this game" and “we were caught off guard by a good team.”

After the game as we were walking around the campus and city we had UGA fans stopping us telling us “You have a good team”, “that game scared the hell out of us”, “Your D-line and linebackers are as good as we have seen”, and my personal favorite “Y’all are by far the hardest hitting team we have played all year!”

Just some comments heard in Athens that I thought I would share.

I completely back this up. I heard it all as well during the game, at halftime while standing in line getting concessions, and during the walk back to the car in the rain. Countless folks told me they thought we had a good team, better than they though we would be, and that I should be proud.

You think Georgia will win the BCS? Alabama did when we played them back in '09.

From today's Brett Vito column........

"UNT’s performance against Georgia was a sign of progress, but the Mean Green was essentially in the same spot last year after a 14-point loss at Kansas State that built faith in the program.

In 2011, it was a win over Indiana that sent hopes soaring.

The Mean Green failed to get to a bowl game in either season.

Will the progress UNT showed against Georgia translate into sustained success and the Mean Green’s first bowl berth since 2004?"

The underlined portion is also my question. So far this season I have been very pleased with what looks like a team with the mental toughness that we haven't seen in decades here at ol' North Texas. It's hard to maintain your focus and mental toughness after a hard fought game against a national opponent that you could have beaten. The next few games will tell just how mentally tough our team really is.

If I had been at the game and people from Georgia had come up to me with the comments listed in this thread, I would have said "thanks for your kind words.....but since you won, you can afford to be kind. We still lost, and I'm sick to death of moral victories"

I'd hardly equate Indiana to a traditional SEC power, or to a Kansas State who was having a top 10 year.

That said, I'd like to play more of the Indianas and Vanderbuilts of the world.

I saw a video where Joe Greene was talking about putting the Mean back in the Green and someone must have been inspired. My high school buddy and UT fan is putting in a Fuzzy's Taco in Athens and sent me a text saying the the Mean Green won the respect of the Dawg nation and how he had to brag about being from Denton. Those are good signs for our program. I think folks remember games like that more than the script on the side of the helmets. Our team is fun to watch and I hope the folks in Denton see it and come see it.

DISCLAIMER: I realize that this was on Facebook, and there are some loose screws on there.

On the College Gameday FB page, they are talking about the UGA/LSU game. There are a few people who believe we'd win the Big 10. I don't think we would beat Michigan or Ohio State, BUT it is nice to hear the love.

It seems like we are finally getting a little respect. I'll take it.
