Cheerleaders?

Well if they have won Nationals before and Michigan won this year.... I am not sure how that is possible.

Who said that? If you are talking about my post...I indicated they had an all time best score for UNT....at least that's what I thought I said. Didn't mention anything about a national winning score.

Hope everyone realizes that the UNT squad was competing against schools who provide full scholarships to their competitive Cheer Squads. Folks realize, I hope, that some universities have competitive squads and the squads who perform at the games, etc. that is...two completely different squads or teams. UNT's squad does both and without the benefit of scholarship support.

Very proud of UNT's Cheer Squad. A bunch of talented students and dedicated team members.

Alright, I've been told that Scrappy get-up is a Ringleader sort of thing for a circus performance.

Yes...and hand made by a member of the UNT Athletic Dept. Staff. Really nice job. Really talented seamstress! A prime example of going above and beyond what is required!

All athletic departments want good spirited cheerleaders at the games and ones who do well at nationals...unfortunately, a lot of schools don't want to pay for them...sadly, North Texas falls into the latter catagory.

Not sure how sad, it is. NT seems to do very well in the cheer leading department as it is. Not sure how it is now, but in the past when NT won national cheer leading championships, most of that group were not even part of the squads that were actually at the games.

They are definitely athletes and deserve praise, but everyone can't be on ship. I assume the band all million of them should also be on ship, after all the basketball pep band is paid. I like the pep band a lot, but wonder why colleges pay them.

Because basketball games happen at times that would otherwise fall during prime evening work hours for those not on full-ride scholarships - which is the majority of music students.

By that logic, we should pay the players that aren't on ships too...wait, scratch that.
