With apologies to KingDL1, I think I now have the best picture of Apogee Stadium, ever.

What's being built on the hill? It look torn up. Oh, and good luck on your next daylight bombing raid.

You didn't drop bombs did you? Just stay away from Apogee. Aim for the remaining portion of Fouts.

A reporter and I got a media ride on The Collings Foundation B-17G Nine-O-Nine when it was at Denton Enterprise Airport on 3/17.

You are damn lucky to get that opportunity

I was outside running electric to a couple of trailers that day and the B-17 had me staring at the sky for a good portion of the afternoon. Did you get to man any of the pods?

In Adrian Lewis's History of WWII class, we had a older gentleman that was auditing the course. It was a night class, and one evening, Dr. Lewis turned over the lectern to the man. For the next hour and a half, he recounted his experience as an 18 yr old tail gunner in a B-17 over Germany. He spoke modestly of his combat experiences, but I still fondly remember his talk.

Among the most interesting comments... Condoms were use to urinate in on long flights, the dropped earthward.

The windmills are fair game though.

The windmills are fair game though.

Still my favorite athletic department employee quote of all-time, "It's windy enough around here. Why did they put those fans there?"

Strange that he he's freaked out by guns? Still a really cool passion for restoring something so unique.

My dad was trained as a waist gunner and crew Chief on a B-17. What's a crew chief? He's the one that, after wheels-up, got to go fix anything mechanical that goes wrong. Including standing on the cat walk between the bomb racks and kicking a bomb loose that got stuck. Makes for a nice view.
