DENTON, Texas – Entering its first year in Conference USA, the North Texas football team has placed seven players on Phil Steele’s Preseason All-C-USA Team. The Mean Green offensive line leads the way with three of the five starters making the first, second,or third team. The North Texas offensive line allowed the fewest sacks in the nation last season with just six sacks, which was also a school record.
North Texas and Marshall had the most offensive lineman picks with three among all C-USA schools.
Two-time all-conference selection Cyril Lemon, who has started all 24 games since arriving on campus two seasons ago, is a first-team pick.
Tackle Antonio Johnson is a second- team pick while Mason Y’Barbo is a third-team pick. Wide Receiver Brelan Chancellor was named to the fourth-team.
Defensively Zachary Orr was a second-team pick along with fellow linebacker Derek Akunne who was a fourth-team pick. Defensive back Zac Whitfield, coming off a sensational freshman year, was named to the third team.
