Had a mutual friend ask if that's the first time in school history, that we've "run ruled" ....three games in a row. I'd guess it is.

UTSA softball is what it is but NT outscores UTSA 33-8 over less than 16 innings played in the three game series. Does anyone know if a bunt is easier to execute on a wet (sticky?) field? We had at least three excellent bunts in game one today. GMG

Why just 70k? Agree, this fake money throwing around acting like this coach gives a crap about UTEP...

PAC soon on the Prowl again for more Football members...

Agree with all the above. I would love to run with the west coast G5 powers but I can’t fault our University for not blindly wandering into a new league with what looks like weak leadership and no firm media deal. I’m skittish after Judy. I like our current media access and time zone positioning. We have assets. Show us the media deal. We will contemplate. You gain access to massive North Texas. We align with other G5 bball powers if all works out. GMG -

Boomsticks back out in the nightcap....Mean Green win 12-3 in five innings (run ruled). Kayleigh Smith started....went 3 2/3....relieved by Shelby Buffington who went 1 1/3. Smith left with the lead...but meangreenstats says the winner was Buffington. Not sure.....in softball do you have to go x number of innings as the starter, to get the win???? Anyway....happy for true freshman Buffington......that was her most successful outing. Big bats......Kailyn Bearpaw (4 rbis)....Maddie Conley (3 rbis). Our gals are now 10-5 in league play. We play at Tarleton on Tuesday....before going to FAU (best team in the league by far) for three games next weekend. Not expecting miracles down there, but if our kids win at least one game....it would show them they can beat FAU (could come in handy at tourney time). GMG

Yeah, thats the most sensible answer. Not sure what I am thinking. Conference doesn't mean anything anymore, all about $$$$. -

Typically, the Big East is a stronger basketball conference. Either this year is a brand new trend for the SEC, or it's an anomaly. Regardless, I'm pretty sure someone just offered him more money. -

SEC to Big East? To a parallel team in their respective conference too. -
It was intended to be. I obviously need to take into consideration the sophistication of the readers and adjust my attempts at humor appropriately.

I don’t think we had a GM last year. Curious to see what changes come from this role and from McHugh.

The thing is, the AAC pays more now, but we don’t get a full share currently and when it comes up again for renewal with the networks, I’d be shocked if it’s anywhere as high as it is now. I expect that Memphis will be in the ACC or Big 12 within the next 5 years. And they’re the only brand that has any cachet to it in the national media. So the PAC gives us better names for football and especially in basketball. That last point alone makes it worth it, as that sport is the only one we can make national noise in still. But we won’t do it. That’s taking on unknown revenues and we only run on known costs. -

Well, generally I feel like if you're good enough to come back from a deficit to win at the end - you deserve to. That's not always the case, but 95+ percent of the time. Last night I'm still not sure if I feel like if Houston or Duke was more responsible for how that game ended. I've seen endings like that before, but I'm not sure ever one in such a high stakes situation.

Not a hot take at all. I'm sure everybody around realizes it's not about how you start, it's how you finish. Most games the past few weeks have come down to the final 5 minutes or less. If you can keep it close for about 35 minutes, you can win the game.

The ladies go down 4-0 in Game 2 but score 12 unanswered in innings 4-6 for another run rule victory. Game 3 will start around 2:55. UNT is 9-5 in conference, USF lost two of three in Boca so they are 9-5-1. A win later this afternoon puts us in second place.

My hot take is, you can win and not deserve it and lose and not deserve to. Both happen in sports.

Haha, I know right. But I could imagine a “pile of cash from Brint Ryan & friends”. We all watched the SMU donors buy their way into the ACC. Maybe that sparked an idea with our billionaire donor? -
Sports can teach us that sometimes you do all the right things and don't get what you want. That what you "deserve" is irrelevant. Maybe relax a little? Was just having fun with old cliches.

Dusty May still landing the best players in the American Conference! Would love to see Dr. Ob grabbing the best guys he played against last season. A Mean Green Horizon League All Star team could dominate the American next season.
