Thank you for doing the right thing and taking a stand. I'm sure there are others around the country who feel the same and I hope they join you in refusing to partake in NIL at their respective schools. -

We’re going to need at least two QB’s, especially if we’re letting them run a bit more. I think either Mestemaker or Reese will lead us to 8 wins…or more. -

Of all the posters on this board you are the one I respect the most. Your passion has been unsurpassed. You are also correct that the current status of things is unsustainable. I hope a solution can ultimately be found. I know your passion as a fan is unlikely to be impacted but it is difficult to make a commitment only to find there are those that you support are quick to move on to the next mark. Thank you for your support you have provided over the years, and I will see you at the games. -

i am so d.g.a.f. about all this anymore. I refused to be fleeced for n.i.l. anymore. fleeced for donations. fleeced for support for anything. no bleed green. no nothing. use me for a year plus, only to go get the first big job that comes around. not gonna happen again. fool me once.....fool me twice. good luck to the new coach, but i aint financing his success to the next job. will my butt be in the front non cheering no emotion row? yes it will. as long as they will let me. this current thing is not, i repeat not sustainable. -
8 is norm? Every team here clearly has 9 guys in the rotation except us.

The ceiling is 9 wins and the floor is probably 2 wins, just depending on injuries or other issues. Id probably expect 6-6. The defense has to be a lot better than we’ve seen here since the DMac days. With these Leach Disciples, that’s rarely the case. -
This seems really stupid…like really, really stupid. A 23-year old? Has he ever played football?

2025 Roster Construction

Is "help" money in this instance? "Give me" is funny to me. Just...sounds so 2025. -
As one perceptive high school student said to me, “ A university will give me more help for being a good athlete than for being smart!”

Your logic about Delong and finding the next level doesn't apply to Hedlund, because you aren't a fan of soccer?
-
It most be nice to have that kind of money from TV and fans. This is why it has to split up. It’s unsustainable. They have the rules to let you give kids playing time and watch them easily for recruiting, then easily poach the coaches and players. Hell, at a place like here, they easily have poached our potential fanbase and donors. Texas has more UNT grads as fans than our program does…just like Texas State and UTSA grads, too. It’s unsustainable and the faster they go on to their own setup, the better it will be. Our level of play needs to have contracts for players. Or else they’ll just keep walking away as soon as cash gets shown by these power schools.

Did you see Mestemaker in the bowl game? That kid, if he plays to that level, is good enough to win a lot of games. I am also looking forward to Jimmerson, but our QB's will be fine. -
He did a great job building our program, but it is time to elevate it to the next level. Not sure if he is the right person for the job anymore.

Softball at Tarleton (4/8/25)
Side.Show.Joe replied to Matt from A700's topic in Mean Green Athletics
I don't really have one. I mean, I want North Texas do win, but I'm not a soccer fan, so I can't speak to the quality of our program. But, I know he has been at UNT a long time, and won a lot of games. But, our success at soccer doesn't register with me. In women's sports softball and volleyball do. -

According to USA Today, McDermott made just over $2.9 million this year. When he signed his extension last year, CBS reported he was amongst the highest paid Big East coaches. https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/mens-basketball/coach/3180 https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/creightons-greg-mcdermott-agrees-to-four-year-deal-making-him-one-of-the-big-easts-highest-paid-coaches/ My favorite part of the CBS article: "It's a notable development because McDermott had been speculated as a candidate for the Ohio State opening, in addition to the looming Louisville vacancy. "There is no place I would rather be for the rest of my career than Creighton," McDermott said in statement." -

That's maybe the weakest schedule we've had in a long time. Could be an "opportunity" year, but I tend to think our new QBs are not going to be as good as the last guy we had. Until the freshman gets his shot...then all bets are off. That kid looks like a firework waiting to go off on tape. I could be wildly off about the Albany/Miami transfer, though. I can't even tell you any of these guy's names off the top of my head without having to look it up...which goes to show, how the heck do you have any semblance of what to expect nowadays with all the roster turnover?!
