Of the future P4 one-for-one series, we get the Home game first with only Washington St. and Missouri. I would not be surprised if Tech, Baylor and Colorado cancelled their return games with us for just the penalty fee and scheduled additional home games to get more revenue for their NIL. We should always try to get the Home game first in those P4 series going forward, if there are any. https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/north-texas/ Future North Texas Non-Conference Opponents 2025 08/30 - Lamar 09/06 - at Western Michigan 09/13 - Washington State 09/27 - South Alabama 2026 09/05 - at Wyoming 09/12 - UNLV 09/19 - at Texas State 09/26 - HCU 2027 09/04 - Tarleton State 09/11 - Texas Tech 09/18 - Wyoming 10/02 - at San Jose State 2028 09/02 - at Baylor 09/09 - Louisiana Tech 2029 09/01 - Baylor 09/08 - North Alabama 09/15 - FIU 2030 08/31 - Texas State 09/07 - at Washington State 09/14 - Missouri 09/21 - at Wyoming 2031 09/13 - at Missouri 09/20 - Western Michigan 2032 09/04 - at Colorado 09/25 - San Jose State 2033 09/03 - Colorado

Could UNT go undefeated this year in FB?
TIgreen01 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
That's maybe the weakest schedule we've had in a long time. Could be an "opportunity" year, but I tend to think our new QBs are not going to be as good as the last guy we had. Until the freshman gets his shot...then all bets are off. That kid looks like a firework waiting to go off on tape. I could be wildly off about the Albany/Miami transfer, though. I can't even tell you any of these guy's names off the top of my head without having to look it up...which goes to show, how the heck do you have any semblance of what to expect nowadays with all the roster turnover?! -

This right here. ...to the point where we had people around here clamoring for Jase Herl, Johnny Estelle, & even (perhaps loudest of all) Andre Shaw, who had never been a HC at any level before, ever. All in the name of trying to keep continuity, which certainly wouldn't have been a guarantee seeing as these guys only worked under Hodge for 2 years (or less) of their entire careers. -
I would be fine with no high school recruits in basketball or football. With college transfers you know more about what you’re getting, if they played already vs sitting on a bench at UNT. Plus they are more mature and already acclimated to college life.

Just remembering how Calipari made a career at Memphis with HS super stars. Several were one-and-dones. Derrick Rose comes to mind What I'm questioning right now is, with the current portal environment along with NIL, are we (along with other Mid Majors) in a better or worse position than before to get our target HS recruits? Is all this roster turnover and the clusterf in the portal mean we have a better chance of getting better HS recruits?

You know, I'm not really worried about the DATCU being booked after our season is over in November. -
Huss Leaving High Point To Be Creighton's "Coach In Waiting"
NT80 replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Basketball
McDermott is 60, and has been at Creighton since 2010. He has led Creighton to 10 NCAA Tournaments. He only makes $1.4mil there, surprised some Big 10 team didn't try to money-whip him away. Maybe they did? Huss played at Creighton (1997-2001) and was an Asst coach there (2017-23). He just signed a contract extension with High Point last month (March 6, 2025). No details on his salary. Guess extensions are meaningless these days? -

I actually like DeLong and I appreciate what he's done for our program. But we've reached a point where he needs to take it to the next level, or find a coach that can. Just my honest take on our situation. -
Be careful, tread lightly Mr Joe. The DeLong cult will come after you armed with sharp knives.

Something none of us could’ve earned, so a portion of our frustration with the modern system is just a projection of our own athletic inadequacies? -
Now that they are all really paid professionals, are we allowed to call them out for bad play or do we still need to treat them with kid gloves?

Article focuses on the MAC but is an interesting read. Briggs: Wonder what MAC basketball players are getting paid? As chaos swirls, we found out | The Blade With schools set to begin directly paying athletes up to $20.5 million per year, how much of that pot will go to men’s basketball? Here’s how leading NIL broker Opendorse projects the per-team allotments — on average — breaking down, per ESPN: 1. Big East: $5.7 million. 2. ACC: $4.4 million. 3. Big 12: $4.3 million. 4. Big Ten: $3.2 million. 5. SEC: $3.1 million.

This is the kind of crap that drives me crazy. We should not be dropping games to Tarelton. We can't win the AAC, or earn a spot in a regional, when we can't even beat Tarelton. This is not where our program should be after 6 seasons under DeLong. -
Exactly. I'm not saying we don't need experienced guys but we need balance and I'm never going to be upset about signing a 4 star HS recruit. If that 4 star recruit averages 15 a game on the way to an NCAA tournament bid then leaves, so be it. Enjoy the ride but you need balance on your roster.
