  1. Today
  2. Yeah that was weird. Don’t miss Wren and wish Ross the best. Looking forward. So glad I get to live the patch for life. GMG
  3. I am not against bringing your own players, but we need to be more than Cleveland State 2.0.
  4. Maybe they have some insanely rich alumni to help with this. I thought we all learned how deadly being an indy is if you're not named Notre Dame.
  5. Looks like these postings are from 3 months ago? I don't feel certain because I rarely go to Reddit. Also this is a reminder of how some people feel about the commuter aspect.
  6. I'm fully in favor of joining the PAC. Agree that the AAC is more risky long-term with Memphis, Tulane, and USF seeking to get out. Even if those schools stay in the AAC, I'd rather be in the basketball league with Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Colorado State, Boise State, SDSU, etc. It's going to be a multi-bid conference March Madness most years, unlike the AAC. On the football side of things, it's at least as competitive as the AAC if not slightly better. We also have the opportunity to strike a better media deal with the PAC compared to waiting for our revenue deal to increase in the AAC. I think we should be proactive and make the move.
  7. What could possibly go wrong?
  8. lol you really think assistants would be staying after getting a new coach ?
  9. Interesting post in the PAC expansion/forum thread today from a TXST fan. Anyone else know about this...? 1 hour ago, JimboF said: I was reading a new Reddit thread today regarding chatter from out west concerning UNT reportedly having a group of wealthy donors ready to cover the AAC exit fees if/when UNT joins the Pac. If so, we'd likely see UNT and Texas State both going to the Pac, perhaps with Saint Mary's also joining for non-football sports. Now I'm even more intrigued!
  10. This really seems like a reach to me. No conference has invited them. "Sacramento State plans to file an application with the NCAA this week to transition from the FCS to the FBS in football as an independent, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. The school has already filed a waiver to transition as an independent in football, which requires NCAA approval." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/44510429/sources-sacramento-state-apply-become-fbs-independent
  11. Doesn’t matter what you drive. Can you get there? Getting there for UK, Ark, A&M is probably Sweet 16 or better. For us, getting there is 20 wins, Top 4 conference regular season, advancing a few rounds in conference championship and making a postseason tournament. Every few years those schools expect to contend for a national title. Every few years I expect our team to make the NCAAs (and maybe win a game or two). We will all be delighted if the new coach can deliver that.

  13. Also what happens when the west and east coast all moves to Texas because of taxes and jobs etc like they predict? Shitholes like West Virginia get to stay in bigger conferences just because the Texas schools don’t want any competition? Look at how long it took UofH to gain acceptance into the Big 12!
  14. I have been posting about this on here for wars now, you are who your opponents are! Now they get to walk a mile in our shoes. Ironically Cal who was in the original PAC 12 has been the best nonconference opponent we could muster recently. My guess is this same decreasing fan phenomenon happening at WSU is also happening at Baylor, TCU, and the other Big 12 schools who feasted off of UT and A&M and OU etc all those many years.
  15. I've said it here before, if politicians were smart they'd put the clamps on college athletics and equal out media dollars across the board, and set salary caps in an effort to level out the playing field. Looking at Texas alone for example, we could be boosting economy in cities like El Paso, San Marcos, Denton, and Huntsville in addition to the already sports-dependent markets like Austin, College Station, and Lubbock. Instead we'd rather keep the same few markets at the top and let the others struggle. Why you wouldn't want more money circulating is beyond me but I guess anything to keep the top dogs happy.
  16. My understanding was Newell was still being paid from Cal so we didn’t have to pay him any NIL money. I would take him for free.
  17. It’s a complete overhaul. I doubt a single player or coach is back. It’s just how it is now a days
  18. I think Coach Robinson can do it, too. And, credit where credit is due, Mosley deserves recognition for identifying this notion and incorporating it as a criteria in his hiring process. We've maintained a defense-first program for nearly a decade under two coaches. It has truly become a defining characteristic for us, one that people across the nation have begun to associate with our team. That identity could have been swiftly destroyed if Mosley had hired an offensive-minded coach with less emphasis on defense. However, by bringing in Robinson, we have the chance to genuinely build on that foundation and identity as a program, and that's a key way to develop an iconic program. Toughest team wins. Keep building on it, Coach Robinson!
  19. My guess nobody. anything else would be unusual.
  20. Exactly. You buy a beer or two because the food was free. You buy the kid an ice cream because the food was free. Pretty soon you’ve spent as much as you would have spent on the food.
  21. Estelle told Hank and Dave last night that he was headed to WVU with Ross. Any word on who might be staying?
  22. But none of that has much to do about monetary hierarchy. Uk, ark, and atm can money whip. The narrative you're creating is trying to group us up with them. They drive Bugattis. We drive a Honda civic.
  23. Yeah but he left. Arkansas and Kentucky lost their head coaches last season too. My point is that no matter where you are on the college basketball revenue hierarchy, you are going to lose your coach sometimes. Good programs keep winning. Are we a good program now? I’m still buying season tickets and making my small monthly donation to NIL so I hope so.
  24. I’m more interested in grabbing experienced college players out of the portal. Let’s enter a Horizon League ALL STAR team into the American Conference next season.
