  1. Past hour
  2. I think Mestemaker played much better than any UNT fan could have expected, given the circumstances. Will he build on that performance? Do we have other QB options as good... or better? Morris knows QBs! He doesn't know defense....which is why he hired someone new to make it better.
  3. 0-0, after 2. Annica Anderson started.....has pitched well....an inning ending double play in the first....helped. Our girls haven't gotten a hit against their stud pitcher. Will be a successful weekend if: 1) We sneak out of there.....with even one win. More would be awesome. 2) Our girls take their softball bats, and beat into a coma, whoever it is....that thinks you must have stadium noise after every f'ing pitch. Not sure what it is....my hearing sucks. But it sounds like a really distorted boom box. Not sure....but it's annoying.
  4. I don't pretend Ross was some genius coach. He was stubborn, sometimes to a fault. He didn't really appreciate UNT fans either like he will when WVU loses some games. It's a tougher crowd when they expect more for their million$.
  5. Today
  6. Yeah, saw that one. Here's the X post, but really wanted a thread dedicated to the coaches
  7. I had to work really hard to not include "IS CAMELOT BURNING?!?ELEVEN!!!"** **kidding. I would never do such a thing.
  8. Hunt is an AC alum & played basketball there.
  9. im not going anywhere..... in fact doing a tailgate for softball some time in april 2025 on a saturday.... lol
  10. Doesn't look like it was posted here yet but Wooten is also entering the transfer portal. We are already losing a lot to graduation, look forward to some portal signings soon...
  11. Received. I respect these perspectives.
  12. And D1 benches are filled with... checks notes... 10+ D1 players... Cotton had 6 D1 offers, Vice had 10, and Mason had 12. You're not going to convince me neither of the 3 are capable of carving out a role on a D1 roster. It's more likely Hodge didn't want to prioritize developing them. Maybe he was already hearing via his agent that bigger programs were sniffing around so Hodge knew he needed to win now which meant focusing on experienced D1 players over the younger guys. Whatever the reason, it's behind us now. It seems coach Robinson is willing to give young guys an opportunity. I'm excited to see what this program will look like in a year or two under his leadership.
  13. WVU clearly hired the wrong guy from UNT😁
  14. This is nothing but good news. When you are successful enough that your assistants go on to be the head of a program, you are doing things right.
  15. Stone was good on defense but an offensive liability. We were playing 4 on 5 when we had the ball. Mason had 4 times the offensive ability of Stone, and if only half the defense, it would be worth it to put Mason on the floor instead.
  16. TN needs to send him packing
  17. Found this on a NIL/Portal site for college basketball. This is what the Major Conferences are supposedly playing for players right now. PROJECTED ELITE GUYS (Top 10-15): $2.5 to 4 million PROJECTED ALL-LEAGUE PLAYER: $1.5 to 2.5 million PROJECTED STARTERS: $500K to 1.5 million PROJECTED BENCH PLAYER: $200K to 700K This may be why we can't keep our best players. I doubt that we are even close to paying out more than 50-100k for a starter.
  18. Hayes to ALabama State
  19. All the more reason I always cheer for the upsets and Cinderella teams to beat the Power schools in college football and basketball. $mut’s of the world will always try to buy their way ahead of others.
  20. When Bucky McMillan became the new A$M basketball coach.....it was reported that the Aggies next year, have $7 million just for basketball. If they paid every scholarship player equally (and they probably don't)....that would be over $500k, per player. Keep thinking we can stay in the NIL game. We can't.
  21. Saw this X post and immediately came back here to share with the board.
  22. I said this before, regarding football, but the transfer portal is just killing my joy for college sports. I quit CFB a few years ago--it just cost too much and it took too long. CBB isn't long for my fandom even though it's my favorite sport to follow. I could handle the fact that coaches could leave they wanted-it made sense. I don't like NIL but I understand why its there, but its easy to exploit and declare it "legal" to pay. But the portal is the ender. A brand new team every year, basically, if you have any success from the season before...its just impossible to support it with any kind of logical approach as a UNT fan. And this isn't even counting the ways the university actually acts about our teams, as well.
  23. NBA benches are also filled with...checks notes...10 NBA basketball players. there's a pretty big difference in calling down Dwight Powell and trusting he can contribute after a string of DNPs than asking the same of Brock Vice
  24. I think it was pretty telling that when Massie was out only Stone got the spare minutes. Stone was a trusted part of the '23-'24 rotation (30 GP, 14 minutes/game) and then completely fell out of the rotation last season (16 GP, 5 minutes/game)...so it didn't appear Hodge had much "senior-loyalty" to get him minutes... maybe, just maybe Mason wasn't actually ready to contribute last season.
  25. 1. I understood your point, that's why I noted that you were making a valid argument in regards to having players ready to play. 2. Definitely cherry picking. Let's go to Google so everyone is working off of the same definition: A basketball team's "rotation" is the group of players who are most likely to be on the court during a game, as opposed to those who are primarily bench players 3. I feel like that is rarely, if ever, seen in college. 4. When you win your NCAA tournament games by an average of over 23 points per game, you probably had a lot of games that bench players got extended minutes.
  26. Players changing every season is the part that hurts programs that need to build fan bases. Fans “buying into” a program takes excitement over seasons of watching the same players. You follow the Mavs to see Luka. It’s an investment as far as buying tickets and donating and getting friends to come, etc.
