I'm a college basketball junkie and I didn't watch five total minutes of the Crown Tournament. I almost forgot about it. I flipped by and saw it was on TV before the F4 on Saturday.

We got 4 NIT games, probably a million people saw our program over those 4 games. Did Memphis get a million people watching their one-and-done game? The NIT was good exposure for our Brand...would have been better to won it! I do feel the NIT has lost some shine. But I totally forgot about the new Crown tournament until late tonight, so I checked the scores. Never saw a promotion for it or any media about it. I saw Nebraska beat UCF in the final today. I had no clue it was even going on.

Prior to them covering the entirety of the Women's Tournament, ESPN gave it more coverage (about 12-15 years ago they even showed all the games on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU), but at the same time...they've always spent halftimes talking about the Men's NCAA Tournament.
-
I agree. For a tournament that is on their network, there is almost no coverage. I watch Sportcenter and other ESPN shows and they want to talk about women's NCAA before NIT. Sorry...one of these is not the same IMO.

Kinda what we did against Memphis?

Was it a NIT tournament game with national implications? Was it on national television where UNT could have been highlighted, along with the City of Denton? What's your point? -
Jason Edwards transfers to....Providence?
UNTLifer replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I always heard him say his dream school was Providence and he would go there no matter what. They just had to offer. -
Sorry, but the NIT does a terrible job promoting the tournament, ESPN doesn’t care as they just use it as a vehicle to talk about the NCAA’s during halftime and they switch it from channel to channel within the ESPN family to accommodate some story on a BBQ joint in backwoods Alabama. Because of this, the only people aware of the games are the fans of the respective schools.

It is good to dominate the teams we should blow out. The bad news is that in our remaining four conference series, we play the other three teams in the Top 4 of the standings. The only outlier is 8th place UAB, who is still a respectable 6-9, AND swept us in Birmingham last year.

Could UNT go undefeated this year in FB?

They don’t have a luncheon planned at DATCU, do they ? -
Best avenue to get UNT Army tickets?

It’s leaves from a pier (not being smart. There are a lot of piers in NYC). And it was fun. When we took it, it was cold and rainy. We had to stay inside there and back. But a great trip regardless. -

Likely both. It had been mentioned that Duke hadn't really faced much pressure something like the last 8 to 10 games where instead they had one those games by like 10 or more points, so they weren't ready mentally for a grinder of a game against the Coogs.

Jason Edwards transfers to....Providence?

Wow! That message board is claiming that Jason Edwards got $1.5M from Providence! Our finances aren’t even in the same universe as those guys. -
Just invent a sarcasm font. San Serif, monospace, and call it something similar to dingbat. It can only be used in blue color on a solid, dark red background.

Had a mutual friend ask if that's the first time in school history, that we've "run ruled" ....three games in a row. I'd guess it is.

UTSA softball is what it is but NT outscores UTSA 33-8 over less than 16 innings played in the three game series. Does anyone know if a bunt is easier to execute on a wet (sticky?) field? We had at least three excellent bunts in game one today. GMG

Why just 70k? Agree, this fake money throwing around acting like this coach gives a crap about UTEP...

Agree with all the above. I would love to run with the west coast G5 powers but I can’t fault our University for not blindly wandering into a new league with what looks like weak leadership and no firm media deal. I’m skittish after Judy. I like our current media access and time zone positioning. We have assets. Show us the media deal. We will contemplate. You gain access to massive North Texas. We align with other G5 bball powers if all works out. GMG -

Boomsticks back out in the nightcap....Mean Green win 12-3 in five innings (run ruled). Kayleigh Smith started....went 3 2/3....relieved by Shelby Buffington who went 1 1/3. Smith left with the lead...but meangreenstats says the winner was Buffington. Not sure.....in softball do you have to go x number of innings as the starter, to get the win???? Anyway....happy for true freshman Buffington......that was her most successful outing. Big bats......Kailyn Bearpaw (4 rbis)....Maddie Conley (3 rbis). Our gals are now 10-5 in league play. We play at Tarleton on Tuesday....before going to FAU (best team in the league by far) for three games next weekend. Not expecting miracles down there, but if our kids win at least one game....it would show them they can beat FAU (could come in handy at tourney time). GMG
